CARRICK Cleek c1880

This is a rare cleek by the CARRICK brothers of Musselburgh. They were blacksmiths and tool makers who changed to be golf club makers and along with John Gray and Robert White and Robert Wilson were among the very first to mark their clubs with their name. This club head carries the marks of CARRICK and the CROSS mark. The head has been plated during it's early life so it has a bright finish...probably why it is in such good condition and the stamps are legible. The shaft is in great condition and the grip is original padded sheepskin. There is slight play between the head and the shaft but if the head was reseated it would be good for play. A rare club from a great maker.
