Antique Golf Club Value Guide

Antique Golf Club Value Guide

This simple guide will enable you to determine the approximate value of the vast majority of wooden shafted golf clubs still in existence. It is worth noting that at present only wooden shafted clubs have any real monetary value. Many people contact me on a regular basis asking for a valuation without realising that the club they have is actually steel shafted and typically dates post 1935. If you are at all unsure whether the shaft is wood or steel check using a fridge magnet. If it is metal shafted it is likely to be worth less than a british pound or us dollar! Of course you might want to store it away for future generations just in case…

With nearly 100 million golfers on planet Earth there is a healthy demand for old antique golf clubs. Most collectors buy them just like to look at and handle them nostalgically whilst admiring their aesthetic appeal. The monetary value of a club is generally driven by its age; the older the better. However, clubs from the tail end of the wooden-shafted era are rapidly rising in value if they are in sound playable condition as the popularity of playing “hickory golf” increases.
